Candidate Guidelines
Medical Device Sales & Leadership — Essential information for working effectively with recruiters and protecting your career
Your Guide to Working With Recruiters
Understanding these guidelines helps protect your professional reputation and ensures the best possible outcome for your career
- When your CV is submitted by a recruiter, it remains on file with that client for 12 months from the date of submission.
- During this period, if the client contacts you directly (HR, hiring manager, or leadership), you must inform them:
- "My CV was submitted through CAREER 2000, please continue communication via them."
- This ensures professional conduct and avoids duplicate submissions or confusion.
- After 12 months, the submission record expires and you are free to reapply.
- It is acceptable and recommended to register with multiple agencies specialising in medical devices sales and leadership.
- Working with multiple agencies spreads your opportunities and increases your chances of finding the right role.
- Treat each recruiter as you would a client.
- Ensure the recruiter discusses each opportunity with you before submitting your CV.
- This ensures your permission and interest are obtained, and that you know if another recruiter has already submitted your CV for the same role.
- Inform other recruiters if your CV has already been submitted for a role.
- Sending the same CV multiple times can harm your reputation and reduce your chances with the client.
- Maintain a record of which agencies you are working with and which roles your CV has been submitted for (directly by yourself, or via another recruiter).
- Always inform recruiters when contacted by them: "My CV has already been submitted for this position, please check before sending to your client."
- Respond to job offers as quickly as possible. Taking days or weeks to reply is considered unprofessional and may harm your reputation.
- If you need time to consider an offer, communicate a reasonable timeline, but do not leave offers unanswered.
- Communicate openly with recruiters about interviews, offers, or client contact.
- Treat all recruiters and client companies with courtesy and professionalism.
- These behaviours strengthen your reputation and increase your chances of success.
- No recruiter or client may contact your current employer without your express, written permission.
- This includes HR, managers, or any employees of your current company.
- Recruiters may not discuss your job application with your current employer, even if the role involves staffing for that same company.
- Any information you share during interviews, including performance, skills, or intentions to move, is strictly confidential.
